  • Cancer Care Ontario Cancer Care Ontario is the provincial agency responsible for continually improving cancer services.

    Formally launched and funded by the provincial government in 1997, Cancer Care Ontario is governed by an act of legislation called The Cancer Act.
    As an operational service agency of government, Cancer Care Ontario is accountable to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care. The details of our relationship with the Ministry are laid out in a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
    CCO follows the management principles of the Government of Ontario. These principles include ethical behavior, accountability, excellence in management, wise use of public funds, high-quality service to the public and equitable access to high-quality service.
    We are authorized by the Personal Health Information Protection Act to collect and use personal health information to carry out our role in planning and managing the cancer system.

    Cancer Care Ontario is the provincial agency responsible for continually improving cancer services. As the government´s cancer advisor, Cancer Care Ontario works to reduce the number of people diagnosed with cancer, and make sure patients receive better care every step of the way.

The division sets strategic directions for Ontario’s health system and supports them with legislation and policy; monitors alignment with strategic directions; selects and manages portfolios of initiatives within the ministry to further health system goals and provides health research investments oversight.

The Ministries of Health and Long-Term Care and Training, Colleges and Universities are delivering on the HealthForceOntario strategy in partnership with the province’s health care consumers and providers.

    The HealthForceOntario strategy is:

    • Identifying and addressing Ontario’s health human resource needs.
    • Engaging partners in education and healthcare to develop skilled, knowledgeable providers and create the healthcare delivery teams that will make the most of their abilities.
    • Introducing new and expanded roles to increase the number of providers working in healthcare and build on the skills of those already in the system.

  • Providence Healthcare Providence Healthcare is a leading Toronto health care facility, specializing in rehabilitation for patients who have experienced strokes, orthopaedic surgery, or lower limb amputation, or who require specialized geriatric rehabilitation, assessment and treatment. We also provide complex continuing care, long-term care and community outreach with a particular focus on addressing the medical, physical, spiritual and emotional needs of individuals with geriatric conditions.
    Programs and services are provided through three Integrated Care Divisions: Providence Hospital, one of Ontario’s largest rehabilitation and complex continuing care facilities; the Cardinal Ambrozic Houses of Providence, a long-term care home for 288 residents; and Providence Community Centre, specializing in community clinics, caregiver support, education and neighbourhood outreach programs, such as the nationally acclaimed Adult Day Program.
